New findings for 2019-2020

Women with ICP were more likely to have gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and preeclampsia via meta-analysis than women without ICP.

Twin pregnancies with ICP give birth significantly earlier than normal twin pregnancies. In twin pregnancies with IVF-ET, patients delivered significantly earlier than in the non-IVF-ET group. Additionally, twin pregnancies with ICP were found to have significantly higher rates of meconium-stained amniotic fluid, postnatal intubation, and admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) than healthy twin pregnancies. ICP develops earlier and more frequently in twin pregnancies from IVF-ET than in those from non-IVF twin pregnancies, and the disease may be more serious.

Thirty-four weeks is the most appropriate cutoff gestational age for the diagnosis of early-onset ICP. Early-onset ICP is characterized by early onset, long disease duration and a higher incidence of preterm labor, fetal distress, and fetal low birth weight compared to late-onset ICP.
