My name is Meaghan Steele Moore and I’m a new mom to a little boy named Grayson living in beautiful British Columbia.

I was diagnosed with ICP towards the end of my second trimester after being up night after night with severe itching on my hands but mainly my feet. A few weeks before it started to develop, I remember seeing a note in one of the pregnancy tracking apps that if you have the symptoms to let your doctor know.

At my next appointment I let my midwife know and was combated with remarks about how unlikely ICP was. I advocated for myself to get tested and sure enough I got a call the next morning saying my levels were super high.

From there, I was closely monitored with weekly non-stress tests, additional ultrasounds, prescribed the medication Urso and checking of my bile acids weekly. My levels went down at the beginning and then started to rise towards the end, reaching as high as 88.

I was inducted at 36+6 and my little itchy baby came exactly at 37 weeks and was thankfully very healthy!

During my pregnancy, the ICP Care support group and website were a wealth of knowledge and I firmly believe it played a huge role in Grayson arriving safely. I’m excited to be a volunteer to help women with their questions, concerns and do my best to help save lives.
