ICP Care Family,
Recent events and racial disparities have shaken our nation. We’d like to acknowledge them and stand in solidarity with our Black community. We recognize the disparities African Americans face in relation to maternal health and medical care both during pregnancy and postnatally.
ICP Care is forming a taskforce to help create resources and assist with advocating for Black families. Board members are meeting with Black leaders in maternal medicine to provide suggestions for equitable care.
As an advocate for ICP and a mom of a two-year-old, this time has made me mindful of ways to further assist African American communities. This also allows me to reflect on my own journey with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP). I relocated to a different state just to get proper care and a diagnosis for my daughter. We stand with our Black community as we navigate these unprecedented times.
