My name is Lindsay Ann, I am an Illinois Ambassador for ICP Care. I’ve had two babies with ICP – my second was very ill by the time I had her at nearly 39 weeks. She had meconium and I hemorrhaged 5 days postpartum during my OBGYN rotation for my medical school. I couldn’t take time off medical school to deliver and care for my babies without being held back a year. I had back-to-back pregnancies; the first pregnancy resulted in mild to moderate ICP and the second was considered severe with extremely high bile acids. Afterwards, I was sent for FibroScans, ultrasounds, and blood work because the problem was so severe. I had to advocate for myself and my baby the entire time; I self-diagnosed and was unable to deliver early during COVID due to miscommunications in my healthcare team.

My goals as an ICP Care Ambassador are to bring awareness and recognition of the potentially harmful and dangerous condition that ICP represents to both the mother and baby. I want to bring awareness to my medical school and healthcare professionals that attend the school and create a presentation for a Grand Rounds.
